This summer, some of the biggest bands on the planet are going
Web 2.0 thanks to a new event widget from
Attendio -- a
social event discovery service that automatically connects you
to local events that match your interests.
The Attendio event widget is currently available on the official
websites for The Police, Gwen Stefani, Beyonce, 311, the Van’s
Warped Tour, Third Eye Blind and Counting Crows, so that fans
can stay in the know about their summer tour schedules. Built to
be 'grabbed' and shared virally across the Web, the Attendio
widget enable bands to leverage their fanbases to promote their
tours.
“We couldn’t be more excited that the hottest bands of the
summer concert circuit have chosen to use the Attendio widget to
keep their fans ‘in the know’,” said Gerardo Capiel, CEO of
Attendio. “In addition, our widget has proven to be an effective
sales vehicle, with bands and fans driving thousands of ticket
sales.”
The Attendio widget displays a band’s photo and event
dates/venues. Fans can get more information on the events and
take action by buying tickets, saving event information to their
calendars, or emailing it to friends. They can even set a mobile
reminder about the event, so they’re sure never to miss another
show again. Most importantly, they can ‘grab’ the widget and
post it to their own MySpace, Facebook, blog or homepages to
help promote the tour.
“Not only is the Attendio widget an amazing tool for promoters,
bands, and fans, but it is incredibly easy to use,” said Larry
Weintraub, CEO of Fanscape, Inc., a leading Los Angeles-based
music marketing company. “The folks at Attendio should be
commended for creating a piece of technology that solves the age
old problem of alerting people that their favorite band is
coming to their town while not making it so complicated that the
average person can’t figure out how to use it.”
Anyone can easily grab and share the Attendio Event widget for
The Police, Gwen Stefani, Beyonce, 311, the Van’s Warped Tour,
and Counting Crows by visiting:

“We embrace all technologies which enhance our relationship
between our artists and their fanbases. Attendio is an amazing
tool that we're excited to launch with Beyonce and that we’ll be
using across our entire roster,” added Max Grousse, executive
vice president, strategic business and A&R, Music World
Entertainment.
