SunBridge Partners Invests In W5 Networks
FREMONT, Calif., November 16, 2006 — W5
Networks, Inc., a provider of wireless solutions for the retail
industry, announced today it has received additional second round
funding from SunBridge Partners. The investment by SunBridge
Partners adds to the recently announced close of $12M in Series B
funding.
W5 Networks recently launched the W5
Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) System™, garnering considerable
interest from the supermarket industry and retail technology
community. The W5 ESL System is the first solution to break cost and
technology barriers that have previously prevented the widespread
adoption of ESLs by major supermarket chains. ESLs simplify the
process of updating shelf price labels by transmitting pricing
information wirelessly to small displays that replace paper shelf
labels.
"For more than the past decade, the market for
electronic shelf labels has been a massive opportunity waiting for
the right solution at the right price point to spur adoption. We
have long been interested in the ESL market and searching for the
right company that could jumpstart that market when we found W5
Networks," said Paul Grim, General Partner at SunBridge Partners.
"Soon after meeting with their team, we knew that W5 Networks had
built an ESL System to finally meet the needs of supermarket
chains."
"SunBridge Partners brings a significant
amount of experience and knowledge of the RFID and wireless solution
markets to W5 Networks," said Richard White, CEO of W5 Networks,
Inc. "We are pleased to team with SunBridge Partners at a time when
the company is quickly gaining momentum."
